
Exercise 6: What motivates others?
Before reacting to the way someone looked at you, the tone of voice, the reaction or inaction, take a moment to consider other people’s motivations. We all feel very understanding, sensible and entitled to our own behavior and attitudes in a moment, but funny how we rarely grant someone else the same permission to be human. If our first reaction is to say, “huh, I wonder what motivated that?!” we might find ourselves in better control of our own judgement, emotions and behavior. Win win!
